Castiron alternative

A Castiron alternative that is still here

Castiron was acquired in November 2024 and wound down; its planned successor, Nourysh, has no live site as of October 2026. If Castiron left you taking orders over Instagram DMs again, Order Local does the same job — a branded ordering page, pickup windows, and payment at checkout — with 0% commission, no customer surcharge, and a $0 fee in months under $250 in sales.

Why switch

Where Order Local is the better choice

Beyond still existing, Order Local makes a few trades differently — mostly around whose money it is and where your sales happen.

Your money never sits with us

Card payments go into your own Stripe account at Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢; Order Local never holds funds. If a platform disappears, that matters: your Stripe account, your customers, and your payouts are yours.

0% commission, no customer surcharge

Your customer pays exactly the listed price. Order Local charges one flat monthly fee based on what you sold — $0 under $250, then $9, $19, $39, capped at $79 — never a percentage.

The booth is covered, not just preorders

Market Mode turns your phone into the register: pick the items, show a checkout QR code, and the customer pays on their own phone by card, Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. No reader, no hardware, and market-day sales land in the same shop as your preorders.

Real pickup scheduling

Pickup locations with their own hours, bookable pickup windows, cutoff times, per-item lead times in days, and per-day capacity caps so one oven never gets oversold. Vendor-run drop-off windows with your own delivery fee too.

Order texts included

Customers get SMS updates as you confirm, start, and finish their order — included in every monthly level, with an allowance that grows as you sell more.

Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, and cash too

If you fell back to Venmo requests after Castiron closed, you can keep taking them here — turn the methods on and the order, items, and pickup time are still recorded, with you confirming each payment.

The honest part

What Castiron did well

Bakers did not pick Castiron by accident. Three things it got right are worth naming, because they are what you should hold any replacement to.

It was built for custom bakers specifically

Request forms, quotes, and fulfillment dates for one-off cakes and cookie sets were the heart of it. Order Local has the same flow — special-order requests, quotes, deposits — but also serves growers, makers, florists, and food trucks, so its language is a little more general.

A marketplace listing came with the shop

Castiron listed every shop on a public marketplace, which some bakers found a few customers through. Order Local gives you your own storefront at your own web address and does not run a marketplace; your customers find you through your own channels.

Nothing to pay up front

Castiron was free for the baker to start. So is Order Local: months under $250 in sales are $0, with unlimited items and no credit card.

How to switch

Rebuilding after Castiron

There is no export to import — the site is gone. But a working shop is one sitting, not a weekend.

1

Re-enter your items

Pull photos and prices from your Instagram or your old order notes. Add modifiers for size, flavor, filling, or inscription — there are no catalog limits.

2

Set a pickup spot and hours

Name the spot and set its hours; the street address is optional, so you can list a meet-up point without publishing your home address. Add lead times and daily caps.

3

Turn on custom requests and share the link

Enable special-order requests so custom cakes come in as quotes with a deposit, connect your own Stripe account (or Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, cash), then put your new link in your Instagram bio — the same place your Castiron link used to be.
